Background / Origin
Sabuj Kallayan Sangstha (SKS) was founded on May 5, 1990, by a group of socially committed youth in Jhenaidah District, driven by the urgent need to address poverty, illiteracy, gender inequality, and social injustice affecting poor and marginalized communities—particularly women and children.
Initially operating with self-generated local resources, SKS evolved into a structured development organization responding to grassroots needs through rights-based, participatory, and inclusive development approaches. Over the years, SKS has expanded its scope to address emerging challenges such as climate change, child protection, disability inclusion, and renewable energy.

A society where poor and underprivileged people—especially women and children—have equal opportunities, dignity, and the capacity to improve their lives through their own efforts.
Mission
To raise awareness and improve the socio-economic conditions of disadvantaged communities in Bangladesh—particularly women, children, persons with disabilities, farmers, and laborers—so that they can actively contribute to building a just, accountable, and inclusive society.
